C100 Index Governance
How the C100 index family is administered, how decisions are made and recorded, and how to raise a concern. Last updated November 2026.
Informational index only. Not investment advice. Not an investable product.
1. Administrator
The C100 index family (C100, C25, C100-EW and C100-exBTC) is administered by C100 Index, a project operated by its founder. There is no legal entity yet. When one is formed, this page will name it.
The administrator designs the methodology, runs the calculation, publishes index values and data, and keeps the records described below. It does not issue, license or sell any financial product linked to the index, and there is no C100 token.

2. Track record
- Live since November 1, 2026. From that date, values are calculated and published daily at 00:00 UTC, with live values about every 5 minutes.
- Before that date, history is a backtest. It uses the same rules and the same engine code that run the live index, and the CoinMarketCap ranking of each historical day with no hindsight. Backtested performance is hypothetical.
3. Rules before discretion
Selection, weighting, rebalancing, reconstitution and the index calculation are mechanical. The methodology is the configuration of the engine that calculates the index, and the backtest and live calculation share that code.
The administrator uses judgement in only three places. Every such decision is published with its date and reason in the decision log below.
- Emergency removals (delisting, loss of peg, exploit). A removal is proposed, then approved or rejected, and each step is written to an audit log.
- Corporate actions (token migrations and redenominations). An action is registered with its source and swap ratio, checked against the prices of both tokens.
- Data corrections, when the source data is shown to be wrong.
4. Methodology changes
- Every methodology version is numbered and published, with a change log.
- Material changes are announced on this site at least 30 days before they take effect, with the reasoning, and feedback is invited at the contact address.
- Corrections of clear errors in the rules or their implementation may take effect sooner. They are disclosed when they are made.
- Published index levels are not restated, except to correct calculation errors, which are disclosed here.
5. Data and controls
- Source: CoinMarketCap point-in-time daily listings and price history. Live values use Pyth or CoinMarketCap quotes.
- Quality checks: daily moves above 50% and gaps in an asset's data are flagged for review, and missing prices are carried forward for at most 3 days.
- Automated controls:
- every scheduled job is logged with its result;
- the engine has 100% test coverage;
- a test checks that the live daily calculation produces the same values as the backtest;
- the index level is unchanged, to 40 significant digits, across every rebalance.
- Verifiability: the units, divisor and prices behind every daily close are published, so anyone can recompute it. See Verify the index.
6. Conflicts of interest
- The administrator currently receives no licensing fees or other payments linked to the index. Any future licensing relationship, or any product that tracks the index, will be disclosed on this page before it starts.
- People involved in running the index may hold crypto assets, including index constituents. Selection and weighting are mechanical, and every discretionary decision is published with its reason, so personal holdings cannot influence the index without leaving a public record.
7. Complaints and feedback
Send complaints about the index, its data or its methodology to c100index@protonmail.com. The administrator acknowledges each one within 5 business days and aims to reply in full within 30 days. Complaints and outcomes are recorded, and any resulting correction is published on this page.
8. Alignment with the IOSCO Principles
The IOSCO Principles for Financial Benchmarks are the international standard that index users such as fund and product issuers apply. The table shows where C100 stands. This is the administrator's own assessment, not an independent review.
